4:00 am on the new moon

I've been a fan of astrophotography for a long time, and always wanted to give it a shot, but I lived in a light polluted area where I would have to travel at least 4 hours to get to a dark sky preserve to be up at 4:00 am – needless to say, my laziness won out.

After moving to NB last month, I've decided to stop being so lazy. I have no excuse. I don't sit in traffic for a couple hours a day on a commute and there is plenty of dark sky to be had in the area.

My first attempt and only a few shots before the clouds started to roll in.

When all is said and done, my first morning out wasn't the most successful and I can see why few people get out to do it. It is a lot of work for things that just may not work out, due to variables of weather, time, settings (math) etc.

It was a great morning, and I look forward to my next adventure out in the southern parts of New Brunswick, Canada chasing sky and seeing stars. There is nothing quite like being absolutely alone with the sounds of forest around you.
